Job Description:
The Advanced Inpatient Preservice Specialist performs all outpatient and inpatient registrations functions, insurance verification, cash collections for the University of Toledo Medical Center while providing excellent customer satisfaction. Strive to sustain courteous and caring impression for patients and visitors. Communicates effectively to maximize patient flow and provide excellence in customer relations. Ensure that financial policies and requirements are met while providing caring access at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
Performs complete and accurate registration and admission functions for the purpose of maximizing reimbursement. Ensures all insurance notifications and authorizations are acquired and documented. Communicates effectively and timely to all areas to maximize patient flow and customer service outcomes both internally and externally.
The Advanced Inpatient Preservice Specialist is highly skilled and works at a fully cross-functional level.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school graduate or equivalent required.
2. Five years’ experience working with Bureau of Workers Compensation claims required.
3. Five years’ experience with ICD-10 and/or CPT codes required.
4. Medical practice insurance and coding diploma, Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Healthcare Access Associate, Certified Revenue Cycle Representative, Licensed Practice Nurse, or like designation preferred.
5. Five years’ of professional office experience in medical collections, billing, medical insurance verification and precertification, advanced patient scheduling or equivalent education preferred.
6. 50wpm typing speed required.
7. Experience in internet, internet navigation, word processing, standard computer manipulation required
8. Ability to calculate fractions, decimals and percentages and to read and write common vocabulary required.
9. Ability to work with minimum supervision.
10. Excellent communication skills, oral and written skills.
11. Ability to deal with confrontation.
12. Ability to develop and maintain professional, service oriented working relationships with patients, families, physicians, nurses, co-workers, supervisors and others.
13. Must be able to understand and comply with policies and procedures.
14. Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills and perform multiple tasks while working independently.
15. Ability to work collaboratively with a high performance team of professionals in partnership toward common objectives
16. Knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications.
17. Proficient in Word and Excel, required.
18. Work in a professional office environment with possible high stress levels.
19. Previous customer service experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
