Job Description:
This role will represent the University of Toledo to the public esp. schools through the SCOPE outreach program by organizing and leading SCOPE sessions during which middle and high school students remotely control (from their classroom) highly sophisticated research instrumentation located at UT.
This role will be responsible for the operation, training and maintenance of a scientific instrument located within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics’ Instrumentation Center. This role will prepare and analyze samples submitted from both, university, and industrial users. The employee will train, supervise, and assist the users of the Scanning Electron Microscope.
Additionally, this role will assist in office duties including but not limited to support in grant writing, responsibilities related to the ICenter budget, creating webpages, and assisting the Director of the Instrumentation Center in day-to-day operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience either (a) working with a Scanning Electron Microscope or other scientific instruments or (b) working in science education
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience with Excel, QuickBooks or other accounting software.
• Experience working with various age groups and abilities.
• Proficient in MS Office, including Power Point.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum one (1) year experience in running and organizing an outreach program or group organization preferred.
